Enabling Business Builders.

When building businesses, the challenges are real:

  1. building a fractal business model that scales well over decades.

  2. retaining the core cultural and operational strengths as the business grows through funding rounds and acquisitions.

  3. retaining simple incentive structures over time.

  4. designing and maintaining a quality culture as a founder’s role evolves with scale.

  5. building capital allocation plans for the long term e.g. internal capital investments, acquisitions.

  6. balance short-term growth with long-term sustainability.

“When you do as everyone else does, don’t be surprised when you get what everyone else gets.”

John Gribbin, author of Chaos Theory

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

Charles Darwin

“Well-designed systems are resilient against failure because they have several layers of defense and redundancy. This approach allows for defense. In the downtimes, you’ll be glad you had them.”

LTCWRK

Compounding VALUE.

We help weave certain principles into organisation and teams:

  • Optionality: acquisitions, fundraising, investment strategies allowing the business to be agile and execute when opportunities arise.

  • Longevity: simple incentive plans, robust systems to support teams from the ‘shop floor’ to the ‘C Suite’. See here some simple examples.

  • Resilience: re-designed financial, operational and commercial teams to thrive during high risk (volatile) economic cycles.

“Life’s true wealth lies in deep, long-lasting win/win relationships which are built, earned, and deserved over time.”

“The highest form which civilization can reach is a seamless web of deserved trust. Not much procedure, just totally reliable people correctly trusting one another"

Charlie Munger

Richard Feynman, Author of The Book of the World

“Bacteria provide nice models for the study of interactions between forms of life at all levels. They live by collaboration, accommodation, exchange, and barter.”

Lewis Thomas, Famous Biologist

The TEAM.

Hi, I’m Paul, the founder of INVRT.

From a young age, I’ve been fascinated by patterns that stand the test of time in life, business, investing, and sports. Early on, I discovered that by inverting problems—asking what causes businesses to fail over decades—I could find better solutions. This simple idea became a guiding principle in my work.

Professional Journey

My career spans various roles in family offices, EY (corporate finance), Accenture (M&A across the UK, Germany, Ireland, and France) and Private Equity.

I’ve worked closely with investors, founders and management teams of companies ranging from 1 to 1,000 employees, helping them grow, scale, or plan their exits. This often involved supporting across the qualitative aspects driving the strongest businesses including culture, incentives, organisational design and operational quality which over time drive most of the value in business.

Founding INVRT

In 2021, I launched INVRT to collaborate with builders—whether they’re founders, investors, or families—who need more doers to bring their visions to life. At INVRT, we believe in going further together.

  • Investment Process: Michael Mauboussin, Nassim Taleb.

  • Other Inspirations: I also draw from the Long Now Foundation, systems theory, and the Santa Fe Institute.
